He was an awesome speaker. He keeps the students interested and gets them involved.	More of the questions on the tests should be reviewed. Some kind of review. Study guide helpful.
History can be a dry subject. This instructor livens the class up with humor and movies, tapes and historical evidence.	More student interaction. A little deviance fro the book so the instructor can tell personal historic stories since he's travelled to many historic spots.
I enjoyed the stark reality of the way the information was presented as opposed to a watered-down or white-washed version.	The only things I feel that could use improvement would be the textbook used. It seemed patched together because it jumped back and forth, and receiving photo copies of the overhead projections.
It was flexible (hrs.), not much homework besides reading. Covered topics that I have not effectively covered before.	The teacher talks a little but fast for 8:00 am. Need more time. More time for Civil War, industrialism, entrepreneurs, etc...
The professor made even the boringest of subjects interesting and there were plenty of interesting topics which made it fun.	Study guides for the tests.
I have always loved history, but enjoy learning it the most when the instructor is enjoying teaching it. What I like most about this class is that Mr. Escobar loves his job and presents history in a fun and effective manner.	My only complaint is that that computer lab opens too late. I'm on my way to work by 10 am.
I learned about the history of the U.S., watching the video clips gave me more knowledge.	I felt that the midterm questions is totally different from what cam out on the weekly quiz. I learned my work but never seem to score well. I was frustrated when I read the midterm question to find it different from the quiz. I hope that most of the question will be similar.
Video clips were very interesting and helpful.	I think having study guides would benefit those having trouble reading and understanding some of the class materials.

This class was well organized and flowed from one era to another with ease.	This class should be taught at 9am instead of 8am on MWF. Good luck with the family, Joe.
I like the computer quizzes, how history was made easy for me to understand. He used examples from today so I could connect the ideas.	I wish the class could be longer, go into more detail.
I liked how Escobar taught it. It was very interesting. I actually enjoyed waking up at 6:30am to attend his 8am class.	More assignments, that way your grade isn't solely based on 3 test grades.
Some of the stuff we covered was interesting.	Could cover a little more material.
I like how he lectures. Also, he was very helpful and kind when I was struggling. Not many teachers are as great as Joe.	Maybe try to get the class to participate in the lectures.
I like the availability of taking the class in the morning or at night. I like the video clips shown. They helped me get a better understanding of the subject.	There could be less use of the book.

The teacher's enthusiasm. At the end of our first class meeting, I felt like giving him a standing ovation.	The tests are very difficult -- maybe more review.
Joe Escobar has a huge knowledge of history. It is also very apparent that history, for him, is a passion. This, for me, makes class very enjoyable.
I really appreciated how he started and ended class on time. He was enthused about the material he's teaching and applied the subjects to our time.	I can't think of how to improve this class.
I enjoyed class because it covered so much wonderful history in a decent amount of time. We didn't drag on about "useless" material and I learned a lot! The breaks were great and the lectures were set at a good pace.	It was fine as it was. I like writing, so a paper or something would be nice but a little impossible for the course. Good work, I totally enjoyed class. See you next term.
Teaching method - kept me interested and also it was taught ina manner that the information was understandable, if I had questions, I could ask; laid back atmosphere - very effective in the learning process.	I personally think it would be helpful to have small outline of ideas of possible topics to be covered on midterms - i.e. the one handed out for the final. Gives us a better understanding of what in particular will be covered and important to know.
The most interesting aspect of the class was the Civil War. We covered this and other topics in relatively good detail.
Instructor kept the flow of the class moving. I was not able to be bored.
Various methods the material was presented made it more interesting (videos, drawings, etc.)	Even though I studied extensively, I felt the exams were too minutely detailed in it's questions and answers. Exams didn't correspond to material emphasized during class. Needed more direction on what to study. Too much info to take all in.

The internet really helped. It would have been useful during entire class.	Redo some of the internet questions. It is hard to read some of them. They are not spaced properly. (completed June 1998)
