Q# 13. What did you like about this class?
- I really enjoyed Mr. Escobar's Class and I hope to be in his 203 class next term
- I liked the topics and the instructor's enthusiasm.
- I like that Professor Escobar is not afraid to discuss controversial issues, and does so in a thoughtful and fair
manner; additionally, class discussions are interesting and thought provoking. He helped history come alive for me.
- I liked the way he always gave the students an idea of what things were like during the time periods discussed. I
also like the fact that Prof. Escobar always tried to get the students to think in terms of relativity in regards
to history.
- I really liked the way my teacher presented the information in the course and the way he didn't let his students
form easy, thoughless views about events in history. He was also always animated in the way he taught his class.
- The video presentations and the actual props used to show a point. Videos were key.
- I enjoyed how he used examples from today to relate to the topics. I enjoyed most of the films we viewed as well.
He also has a great sense of humor.
- Mr. Escobars style of teaching.
- The instructor was enthusiastic about the subject material, which made the students enthusiastic about learning.
- This class was very interactive. Mr. Escobar always had a visual aid to help us learn the material. He used
overheads and very informative video clips to show us exactly what was going on, and how historians look at the
events.
- What I enjoyed most about the class was the organization of the information being taught. Mr. Escobar made his
expectations very clear and kept to the course schedule as noted on the syllabus.
- He kept the classroom from being boring, and had a real easygoing style, and has a good sense of humor.
- The class was just very interesting. i enjoyed the way that Escobar taught the class.
Q# 14. How could this class be improved? Add any comments about the class and/or the instructor that you feel
might be helpful or useful.
- None. . .
- I felt at times the instructor was cramming a lot of information and input in the time allotted and this didn't
help myself personally learn much as it puts me to sleep when an instructor has to do a lot of talking. We were
included at times, but mostly the instructor. Overall, our instructor was very knowledgable and wish we had more
time in class to learn without cramming.
- The only thing I would change is the addition of more work beyond reading, to help the students understand the
significance of certain events and strengthen the knowledge of history. Also the option of some extra credit would
be nice, especially with such a large percentage of the final grade dependent on test scores. I am aware that there
are students who would strenuously disagree with my desire for MORE work.

- Nothing, the only thing that made me confused was the maps on the first test. I didn't know what question went
with what map? That was confusing.
- More class interaction would be much more useful and enjoyable, in my opinion. The books were also a waste. I
didn't read a single page from any of the books besides one section for my PSD paper. They don't really contribute
to the class at all.
- Absolutely Nothing.
- no true or false questions on the tests, that just seems to high schoolish to me.
- Make the students work together more.

Q# 13. What did you like about this class?
- I liked the fact that Joe did a really excellent job of explaining historical perspective from many different
viewpoints but did not dwell on it. I understand that history depends on viewpoint, but I already realized that and
don't continually need to be reminded of it. Joe was more interested in historical fact and then encouraged us to
consider different peoples opinions. Also, I really liked that I was able to switch between his morning and
afternoon classes as my schedule dictated. Adaptability is sweet.
- I foujnd it extremely interesting. The videos and handouts were very informative

- Teacher has excellent knowledge in the subject. Made class fun along with a ton of learning.
- The movies he showed helped a lot.
- it's a better class than the others because it's not just about taking what you read at face value.
- Mr. Escobar made it easy to understand the material.
- I thought Joe did a very good job at teaching History, it was obvious that he was very knowledgeable and
enthusiastic about the subject. It was entertaining while still challenging!
- I enjoyed the general teaching style, I enjoyed the videos-
- I appreciated having constant access to current class info via class website, and the quick responce to e-mails. The computer quizzes were very helpful study
guide and they also helped me see how much info I was retaining from readings/lecture.

might be helpful or useful.
- No improvements needed.
- have two mid terms and then a final. it makes the mid tern not so crucial and things are not so spread out and
not so easily forgotten
- nothing, throughly enjoyed the class, too bad I am not a history major.
- moor time on a chapter
- The textbook's setup was a bit confusing since it jumped back and forth between timelines.
- a little more visual style (outline) lecture is helpful, but I still really enjoy the teaching format
