What did you like about the class?

| There was so much enthusiasm and knowledge behind the teaching of the class that made it enjoyable and entranced me to the class. It made me want to take another one of the classes even though it was a tough class for me. |
| Joe brought history to life. It was no longer a dead stagnant subject. He did an excellent job at tying the past to present and making it relevant. I really enjoyed the way this course is taught. |

| As usual, Professor Escobar packed in a great deal of information while maintaining entertaining and effective lectures. I enjoy his enthusiasm for the subject, and the fusion of lecture, forums, videos, and readings. |

| The classes were interesting and it's clear the Instructor actually cares about History, rather than just going through the motions. I felt I had to read the material to take the quizes, and other information outside the text is provided. The Forums are challenging and give students multiple opportunities to get a maximum score. I've taken the full range of History at Lane from Western Civ to the 200 level of American History, and this was my favorite course because the Instructor uses technology to keep History relevant. Not just lecture slides but videos and white screen references to the internet. This was a great course. |

| Escobar, is a great instructor. He has a vast knowledge of history, and more specifically, a knowledge of politics in history. He is one of the best history professors I have had the honor to learn under. |

| This class finally went into detail and examined in depth periods of history and certain figures and events therein which were always skirted over or ignored in other classes. No history class I have ever taken before went into any sort of depth with regards to presidents Johnson or Ford or Carter, or what the Tet offensive was, just as a few examples. Finally, I felt like I was getting the whole story, not just what was convenient for those other teachers to teach at the time. |

| I enjoyed the videos we saw in this course,i enjoyed how Joe was very knowledgeable of what he was teaching and his energy he had while teaching us. I would recommend his class to anyone looking to take a Hst course here at Lane. He's one of the best instructors i have had here |

| I really like history, so I enjoy when an instructor is in their own right a "history geek". It was cool that on top of teaching the material Escobar shared real experience at some of the historical places he actively visits. There is a passion there and it is much appreciated. |

I have never really been interested in history, particularly; however, after taking this class, even though I might not get a good grade in it, I would certainly take another history class from him. He's passionate about the subject and he knows exactly what he's talking about. I have never felt sleepy in the class, which is kind of rare for me in a history class. Long story short, he's one of a great history teachers out there at Lane. |

| I like that history is taught in a way that is interesting and exciting. Before taking classes with Escobar I found learning history in a classroom extremely boring and relied mostly on the history channel and historical fiction for my information. |

| I think if the study guides for the test were at least available a little sooner for those who wanted it. I would have had more sit down time to concentrate and study. Instead I was just trying to squeeze in a little study here and there between my jobs. |

| I honestly can't think of any, I think its been pretty fine tuned already. |
| It could be improved by the chapter quizzes being normally graded, that way students would keep up in reading the chapters, thus improving test scores. |

| It is obvious the Forums inspired thinking and debate, and many students had more comments than questions during class period. The Instructor did a great job of keeping all comments on point to the lesson plan. But maybe just half a period to discuss the topics in the next class after each Forum closes, could be valuable. |

| I feel like your study sessions could be improved. I sat through half of one and could not grasp the concept. I feel like there is easier, more clear and direct ways to do that. |
| I have never liked the online forums, but I do think that they are a good idea and a good part of class. I wonder if there is a way to make it more a part of the actual class discussion, or maybe if there was a little more input from the instructor. |
| Maybe focus the online portion a little more. That's personal preference though. |
| I wish attendance wasn't such a high percentage of the grade. I made an effort to be there and would attend the afternoon class if I couldn't make it in the morning, so this is no way an attempt to be lazy. |
| He let us take the quiz over and over again until we can achieve 50% possible in order to earn a full credit, which is a great opportunity for student. We don't have to feel stress out doing the quiz every week, in which it contains the material that has not been taught in class. Another great thing about this class is the instructor always have the optional study section when we have the tests, which I think really helps improving one's grade. |

| I have taken two classes with Escobar this year now and found the course to be very beneficial and the requirements of students extremely clear. Everything you need to do to be successful is laid out for you, so if you perform and complete the tasks required of you from day one you can earn the grade you are willing to work for. |
| The only thing I would say would be more discussion time, but with this being a Hybrid Course you really can't have more time for discussion or you would not be able to stay on track and finish everything in the term. |

| The quizzes didn't prepare me for the midterm and I suffered from it. I wish that in class videos were on moodle to help if I missed something that was important. Drawing from the lecture, book readings, videos, and forums for the midterm and final was a bit overwhelming. |
| The forums were a little lengthy and were graded a little harshly, but overall I didn't find the class to be too challenging. I enjoyed this course a lot. |

| Make PowerPoint slides available to students, we can't possibly get as much info if we don't show up to class. I am not a very good note taker. |
| Given the time frame and the topic your format for the class was good. The only thing I would change was the autopsy photos of JFK. |
