I liked the straight forwardness of the class, and that we covered several biases. I appreciate the depth of knowledge that the instructor had in the field, allowing for the coverage of topics from several different points of view. I also liked how well the the course stuck true to the syllabus. I knew exactly what I was getting into with the class, and the instructor made it very clear to me that I had to option to opt out near the beginning or change to a pass-or-no-pass credit system. The instructor knew the subject well, and provided different sources on the material covered.
I liked how enthusiastic Joe Escobar is about history and about getting the truth. I like that he try's to get people to think about things in context with history as it relates to today.
I liked that the forms and quiz were fairly easy to earn full credit and I felt that they were an effective study tool.
I appreciated the often seamless integration of technology into lecture periods. It was nice to see videos, graphs and quotes compiled together in an efficient presentation.
the way the teacher made the events work in with the spot they took place in the time line. The moves that helped back up the point the teacher was making.
I like that the class was one where you could be independent.
I really like History, but i wish i have taking this class with a different instructor. I don't like this course because i had only two midterms, on each midterm there were almost a 100 questions. That's a lot of information to remember specially for a history class. If you have a terrible memory even though you understand the subject, you're most likely to fail a class. All they care about is to prepare you for the midterms.  The question asked "What did you like about the class?".  As the instructor, I can tell you that if you don't follow the directions, as this student clearly illustrates, you won't do well.  But that should be obvious to any college student.
I liked it that we didn't just look at history as objective facts, but instead were encouraged to look at it as something that can easily be distorted by bias.
I liked the different ways we examined material outside of class including: forums, watching short films, reading articles, and taking quiz's. These helped me understand the material for class in ways that are necessarily traditional, which was nice.
I enjoyed the way he taught us in class and with online work as well. He was straight forward and to the point which made the material and content very clear to learn.
I enjoyed the class but it was hard for me because it was a hybrid class. There a was a lot more work than I expected. I would take the class of over again but only it was a traditional style class. Hybrid classes are not for me.
I liked that the teacher had been to many historical places so he could also give us his input on those places.
The teacher was heugely effective in his ability to periodically integrate humor, which studies show helps retain the attention of your audience. For me personally I find that humor, irony, vocal "holla back" Q & A with the students, and interaction based "lecture", make up greatly for those who are not read write learners.
The straight forward form of presenting the information to us. Allowing us to pick it apart. Didn't fill class time with busy work or random unrelated discussion like i have experience in some of my other classes. Filled the class time efficiently and didn't waste any time.
Professor Escobar is extremely organized and I loved the layout of the class. I loved coming to class everyday and listening to his lectures, I felt like I learned so much each class.
I like that we actually learn about u.s history and that we spend enough time to understand the importance of each thing but don't over explain.
Very engaging and enjoyable. I usually find it hard to pay attention and stay focused during history lectures, however this class made it easy (and fun) to learn!
I enjoyed learning the history of our country and the ability to think about an author's bias.
The way the material was taught- it stuck with me.
I liked how lectures weren't boring and there was a lot of pictures and videos to help tie everything that we were learning together.
The online quizzes were a great grading gift to students. Instructor was very passionate about the subject.

I liked the emphasis on learning the material. It seemed that the teacher wanted you to understand the history which is really important to me.
I loved that you were always tying the past with the present and giving examples of what makes them similar/different. I think it made certain concepts easier to understand and made it even more relevant.

There is nothing I would do to change anything about this class. This was my favorite class I've taken in the 2 years I've been at LCC.
make the forums easier to understand whats expected because personally i did not understand the forums.  Did you ever reach out and speak to the instructor to clarify?
I would have liked a little more in class discussion. I understand that in this hybrid course, we do a lot of discussion online where we can think about topics and be very educated on the material, although sometimes I found it hard to gather my thoughts without the input of my peers. For example the "question and response" aspect of the forum posts, where we are not allowed to see the posts of our peers until after we have made a post ourselves. I would have appreciated to be able to actually talk about the forum material in class more, before we had to make our first post. This would give me a better idea of what topics I should be focusing on, what is expected of me, and make me feel more welcome in the class, at the same time as maintaining the question and response aspect of the forum post.
I think the online discussions could use some improvement. Maybe with subjects that could be more accessible to everyone. There seemed to be some students really struggling with not providing citation or specific examples. It's frustrating because its hard to have a discussion when there isn't a lot of good evidence to back up the positions people would take in the forum.
Have a review session before the mid term.
I'm not a huge fan of writing short posts for student forum responses. I prefer to write academic work in essay format and find it too restrictive to to try condense idea into short forum posts.
more time to interact with other student on the curent topic at hand.
I wish that the class was more interactive in class, instead of just sitting in lecture.
Have more midterms
The instructor has a very strong religious bias that comes across as accusatory and very uncomfortable for those who are not Catholic or strongly Christian. It was very uncomfortable for me, and I am Christian.
For the life of me, I cannot figure out what this student is implying.  What religions predominant in 17th Century Colonial America should have been included in this course?
The "no late work allowed" homework policy can seem very strict, especially at first.
An improvement would be potentially more group work in class, we had a couple days where we did some group work with articles and I found this to be helpful in getting a different perspective on the material.
I can't think of anything at the moment. I thought the class was very well structured.
Great instructor, good class, hybrid classes are not for me.
I feel that the class was very well taught, maybe there could be more class discussions or interactions with the other peers.
Our 4 credit hybrid class has only 3 hours of class time each week.  I certainly cannot sacrifice even more class time to in class discussions where only a few vocal students do all of the talking.  The online discussions allow (and require) every student to interact and discuss the topics we are studying.
Minimally (it would be nice to have) small lead in lectures, introductions to faces (even if they all wear wigs and seem to look the same), names, and some theological concepts that will be large parts of the upcoming chapter. Just brief mentions, not deep explanations.
Overall very effective classwork and homework assigned. Sometimes I felt I had to stretch the amount of information on forums but most of the time i felt i was only doing things that had my best interest in mind as a student.
The only portion of the class I did not like was the forums. I know it is a hybrid course so they are a necessity but I didnt feel like they really helped me to learn new things like the lectures did and they were graded very tough.

On some of the forums I just had a hard time getting interested in the topics.
