What did you like about the class?

Escobar was extremely knowledgeable in this field and made this course enjoyable

I liked the lectures, the textbook, and how the Moodle page was organized.

It was one of my favorite subjects for one thing(history and especially US history at that) so that fact massively improved my enjoyment of the class. It was overall fair and pushed me to learn in the right ways but wasn't too hard to incur problems.

I enjoyed the videos we watched and online discussions.

I liked how the instructor respected our time and learning. I also liked how he provided learning opportunities outside of class like videos/ documentaries.

I really enjoyed the amount of knowledge that you had as an instructor. The wide array of things that you were able to lecture on and always answer questions of extra things. I also liked the amount of connections to our own time that you showed us. I believe that's a very important part of history and you were able to connect those dots while also allowing us to connect those on our own at times too. I thought the time-management in the class was very well done too.

My favorite thing about this class was how knowledgable and passionate the instructor was. I felt very engaged and excited to learn in class. I also appreciated the slideshows that were presented, and I felt they were very effective during the lectures.

I liked how organized Joe had set the class up, it made it easy to follow and understand the topics and material.

I liked the course structure and the way the quizzes are set up. Joe sets his students up for success.

I thoroughly enjoyed this class. I believe this is the only class in my time at Lane, besides the previous class I took with Joe, where he utilizes every minute of class time to focus on tbhe subject at hand, and that is something I value very much. Joe is the best instructor I have had here at Lane, and I enjoyed learning more about history, and the forgotten parts of it. I believe one of the best parts about these history classes is that you learn stuff that would would have never been taught at a high school level, and nothing is hidden.

Mr. Escobar puts in a huge amount of effort in class materials. He also encourages students to think for themselves. My favorite part is how he warns students about the concentration of power.

I like how on track we were and the teaching style.

I liked how different opinions were welcomed and you weren't treated differently, no matter religion, political party, etc. The teaching style was engaging, and the professor is a good speaker and enthusiastic about the topics, so it's not boring to listen to him speak.

I liked how even when sharing his personal opinion, the professor still left room for people to come to their own conclusions. Also was very engaging to listen to and utilized the time in class well.

I liked how it was obvious that you are passionate about the subject you teach. It makes the material taught feel more impactful.

The teacher was great and the topics discussed in and outside of class were interesting.

No improvements i can think of, sorry if thats not helpful.

- flexibility on attendance - less current event side bars, a mention or connection is enough and the rest can be discussed in the forums if wanted - more online materials - the classroom itself is a little stuffy, not sure if thats something instructor can help but maybe a fan in the room?

I would allow students to have more in class discussions.

If it ain't broken don't fix it. Don't change a thing.

I think the class could be improved by potentially allowing more time for discussion in-person with our peers. I also think that its hard to do that with the short amount of time for the in-person sections but it would have been nice to talk in-person during class and not just in the forums.

One thing I wished at times in class was that the classes were longer. I don't know how this would work with the hybrid format, but I think longer classes could potentially fit more information in or give way for more discussions.

Maybe hosting a study session before the midterm exam as well just like the final exam but overall the course was great and I learned a lot.

Since it is a hybrid class maybe have the lectures recorded in case a student misses class.

I don't really see any improvements that need to be made. This is a really great class.

I believe the class is at its maximum potential given the restraints of a hybrid structure. I would not be adverse to taking a full class from Mr. Escobar with 3x a week 1:50min classes.

One thing I think could be improved is not skipping through the slideshows quickly, it was difficult to keep up at times.

I wish more people engaged in commenting on others' forum posts. Depending on what group I got there were either a lot of commenters, and it was fun to get different perspectives and respond, or others, it was just answer the questions and be done.

I'm not the biggest fan of the forum post system. However, it may be the best option for a hybrid course to include discussions.
