Review Modules

These modules are designed to help students review basic grammar rules for standard written English. Using and recognizing standard written English will help students perform well on placement tests and in college course work. Each module includes one or more videos as well as practice exercises.

Module 1: Parts of Speech

This module will provide an overview of the parts of speech in English and includes practice. Start the module now.

Module 2: Capitalization

This module provides an overview of rules for capitalization in standard written English and is accompanied by practice questions. Start the module now.

Module 3: Prepositional Phrases

This module defines prepositions, nouns, pronouns, and prepositional phrases and provides practice exercises. Start the module now.

Module 4: Verbs

This module defines verbs and provides an overview of the various types of verbs. In addition, practice questions are included. Start the module now.

Module 5: Subjects

This module reviews sentence subjects and includes practice identifying subjects. Start the module now.

Module 6: Common Errors

This module clarifies common confusions when identifying prepositional phrases, verbs, and subjects and provides an opportunity for practice. Start the module now.

Module 7: Compound Sentences

This module explains compound sentences and provides an overview of rules for punctuation of compound sentences. Practice exercises are included as well. Start the module now.

Module 8: Complex Sentences

This module reviews complex sentences and the rules for punctuating them. In addition, students have the opportunity to answer practice questions on complex sentences. Start the module now.

Module 9: Sentence Errors

This module explains common sentence errors including sentence fragments, run-ons, and comma splice errors and includes an explanation of how to correct such errors. Practice is included. Start the module now.
