COMMENTS:
Q# 13. What did you like about this class?
- Mr. Escobar's lectures were stimulating and he made good use of visual aids, showing a variety of videos. He
also began on a positive note, using humor from a video, and kept a positive atmosphere in the classroom. I
appreciate the deadlines he set.
- learned a lot of things
- Some of the video clips were very interesting. I liked his explanation of Watergate.
- the lectures were original with video and direct information
- the fact that we watched movie clips of the time period we were studying
- Professor Escobar made learning an extensive period of history very fun and kept me interested in the
subject.
- he tought in away that made me think of things in a new way, a different point of few on somethings that I
had already known about. but hadn't thought of in that way
Q# 14. How could this class be improved? Add any comments about the class and/or the instructor that you
feel might be helpful or useful.
- There was way too much focus on the spectrum. If I had known that was going to be the main part of the
class, then I would have taken a different one. I don't feel I got what I wanted from the class, because we
were always trying to figure out where everything was on the spectrum. I don't care about that, all I wanted
to learn were facts about history and I really didn't get very much of that. I also didn't like the political
bashings that took place from other students with realtion to todays president. I felt like I was surrounded
by hardcore liberials and mean democrates, with one exeption; the teacher.
- the teacher needs to not rush so much...it was hard to get everything he was talking about because he would
never go back and brush up on it.
- No Changes
- the study group before the final way very helpful, it would be nice to have one before the midterm too.

COMMENTS:
Q# 13. What did you like about this class?
- I liked how he kept History interesting
- I liked joe's enthusiasum and video clips
- The video clips were a good break in between the lecture and note taking. Also, the organization of our
grades was really nice so we could check it whenever we wanted.
- I really liked your sense of urgency when you're presenting material. You made sure to cram a lot of
information into each class period. I liked your use of the spectrum. I enjoyed watching the videos and
powerpoint charts.
- Awesome class. The instructor was prepared every day for the class, and was not only very knowledgable but
enthusiatic towards the subject as well. Loved the flexibility of the exam and final.
- Professionalism of instructor. Always started class on time, never ran over, did not waste time.
- A practically perfect history class. Kudos to Escobar!
- Joe is an encouraging teacher with a lot of knowlege in the subject
- my favorite history teacher ever! J. Escobar is a fantastic teacher! his spectrum idea helped put
everything in perspective! i understood more in this history classs then in all of my previous history
classes. i did have a similar teacher in high school that went above and beyond in keeping students
interested. you did a great job
- Finally, a teacher who is making significant steps into the technology era!! Thank you so much for putting
Lane's technology to work!
- I enjoyed the wide-variety of media the instructor used to teach the class..
- Everything
Q# 14. How could this class be improved? Add any comments about the class and/or the instructor that you
feel might be helpful or useful.
- good question give me a week and i might think of something (wink)
- A few comments he made were a little discouraging. Such as, "Bill Gates will give away more money this year
then everyone will make there entire lives," Even though that may be true, there is that possibility that one
of the classmates could make alot of money like that as well. It just kinda felt like he short changed us a
little. Also, the religion surveys did not make a good argument. Such as, only 22% of americans go to church
once a week, so that means that if someone missed maybe just one sunday of church, they wouldn't fall in that
category. Also the statistic that people lie about going to church was not revelent. Anyone can make up a
statistic like that. Using things like that as if they were facts were not effective. However, most of the
material he covered was very well done with no other arguments.
- On the first day of class, it might be helpful to remind students why certain aspects of history are
relevent to Americans today. And reiterate that point througout the term. (i.e why is it important to know the
name of Kennedy's domestic policy?) I, as a student, become appathetic if I can't apply coarse material to my
veiw of the world. All in all. It's been the best class I've taken at Lane. Keep on keepin' on.
- Fewer videos.
- I liked the old PSD scheduling better but that's probably because my PSD was due sooner than it was the
first time
- nothing, it's great!
- I believe for tests of that difficulty, the study guides should be more specific to what we are expected to
know..
- buletin board may be updated and made more usefull
