History

I thought that this class was extremely organized and thought out with a lot of care, time, and intention. One part of the class in particular that I think improved the content was how unbiased the course was. Joe even offered a spectrum of perspectives on many topics that allowed us to look at history in an impartial way. 

I liked how detailed class lectures were, as well as the use of many different mediums to teach the material (videos, photos in the lecture presentations, class readings, etc). I also like the class calendar, it helped me keep track of assignments.

I think the lectures were engaging and the online components were used in the ways that they should be. Although, maybe forums would be better after having the chance to do some in-person discussion. The textbook is good, and having the videos and documentaries to widen the amount of material we're drawing from is nice. 

Your approach to history was great compared to history teachers/professors I've had in the past.

I liked how from the first day the teacher stated what was going to be asked of all students that choose to take this class. I also really liked that the teacher graded assignments promptly and made themselves available for questions. 

Instructor Escobar has an infectious enthusiasm for teaching and sharing his knowledge of US history. It comes across as some of the most engaging lectures I have had the pleasure to attend

Mr. Joe Escobar had an incredible talent of starting and finishing the class on the minute, and the lectures were information dense. 

I liked learning about history in this class.

I really like the way the course is set up, how you can earn your grade by completing all the coursework rather than solely from the midterm and final.

The best instructor I've had. It helps tremendously when you can tell the instructor is passionate and excited for what they teach, and you can tell that was the case with this class. I love history, and it made the class that much better that it was straight forward it was exciting to come in and learn about the subject of them all!

It would be nice if the chapter quizzes where culled down to what you want us to know, for example no numbers.

Not hybrid

I can't really think of anything in this class that could be improved. If one is willing to put in the effort, I think it's worth immersing themselves in the content. 

One thing I’d say is the teacher sometimes moves through slides a bit quickly and so there were things I missed while taking notes and I had tomget them from the slides after they were released online.

I personally enjoy the amount of reading, although I can understand how it would seem heavy, given how dense the chapters are. Of course, the lectures help understand what information is most important from the previous chapter. However, I think some study questions (beyond the focus questions in the textbooks) would have gone a long way. 

At times I felt that quiz questions were testing my ability to crack word-play rather than rigorously test what I know. That's a very minor issue though, as there are only so many ways to make multiple choice questions challenging. 

The study guides are a nice feature, although the individual terms on the list leave you unable to tell what you're expected to know about something. For example, 'birthright citizenship' on the final exam sheet. Am I supposed to know the definition? Implementation in the U.S? Not the best example, but maybe a better one would be 'farmer grievances.' We learned a lot about farmer's issues in the last weeks, but how would I know what to review given that single term on the sheet? I'd suggest a little amendment, such as 'Farmer grievances after civil war,' or 'farmer grievances with railroad,' or something to that effect. The same goes for many of the somewhat vague items on the study sheets.

I can't think of any ways to improve the class, but I do want to thank the teacher for how structured the class was, because it made assignments and exams easier to prepare and complete. 

I can think of few ways to improve the class. The amount of homework is fair and reasonable for a hybrid class and still accurately covers the material well, and the classes are engaging and very well paced. Mr. Escobar gives plenty of aid s for study, namely maps and a study guide for midterms and the final that work wonders at preparing you for the tests

Nothing really, Mr. Joe Escobar is extremely passionate and knowledgeable on the subject of American history.

I would open the quizzes back up for practice after the deadline to receive credit for it. Although we can take it as many times as we want, I think it could be helpful to be able to take it throughout the week.

Nothing to add here! My favorite class at Lane so far!
