Explain each of the following concepts in approximately a half to a full page.

1. Briefly explain the goals or objectives of economic development. (10 points)


2. Why is the HDI considered an improvement over GDP per capita as a measue of economic development? (10 points)

Section III:    Historical Context (25 Points)

1. In lecture it was argued that no single economic path nor economic theory fully explains all the actual historical experiences of economic development. However, there were 4 processes that were common to all successfully developed economies: primitive accumulation, increases in the capital labor ratio, the modernization of agriculture, and foreign trade relations. Explain each of these four processes:
