Understanding Your Grade

To calculate your percentage grade, Moodle totals all the points you've earned up to a point, including the extra credit, and then divides by the total possible points excluding the extra credit.

I don't average your percent scores on individual assignments. It's the percentage of your total points that counts. Exams end up having a greater affect on your grade because there are more points possible on exams.

SCREEN SHOT OF THE REPORT FOR JOE TEST:

Look at the above example for Joe Test.  The column headed by "Grade" is actually Joe's total points (102.29 points).   That total is all of the points he has earned so far (including the extra credit), except it doesn't include SQ 5 since it was calculated before SQ 5 was due.

The total possible points after Exam 2 (excluding the extra credit and not including SQ 5) is 124 points.

So 102.29 points divided by 124 points is 0.8249.  Multiply that by 100 and you get 82.49%.  As the SYLLABUS says:
A = 90 -100% of Total Points (A+ = 98% to100% and A- = 90% & 91%)
B = 80 - 89% (B+ = 88% & 89% and B- = 80% & 81%)
C = 70 - 79%(C+ = 78% & 79% and C- = 70% & 71%)
D = 60-69%
F = below 60%
