- 1950 - 1960's: Federal government enacted programs to ensure quality of care for patients and to standardize minimums of care throughout the country. All states vary in what their auxiliaries can do.
Certifications that were recognized and established during these years:
- EFDA (Expanded Function Dental Assistant)
- DAU (Dental Auxiliary Utilization)
- TEAM (Training Expanded Auxiliary Management)
- 1970: Dental Insurance became available
- 1980 - 1999: ICE (OSHA) infection and radiography regulations
- 2000 +: HIPAA - This Patient Privacy Act was enacted to protect the patients right to keeping their medical records and medical information private
