Objectives

  1. Describe main characteristics selected endocrine diseases (diabetes, thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal)
  2. Recognize common signs and symptoms of selected endocrine disorders
  3. Select appropriate tests and measures to monitor response to movement in simulated patients with endocrine disorders
  4. Instruct a simulated patient with diabetes in self-management strategies that optimize movement
  5. Select interventions in the physical therapy plan of care that would minimize impairments associated with endocrine disorders in simulated patients
  6. Describe the role of the PTA patient education for endocrine disease and disorder management
  7. Recognize psychosocial affects of diabetes
